RIGHTS OF MIGRANTS IN ACTION PROJECT – AFRICA’S REGIONAL CONSULTATION MEETING
Development Practitioners Network participated in the rewarding Africa’s Regional Consultation Meeting (RCM) for the Rights of Migrants in Action project recently conducted in Harare.
As the project approaches the concluding stages, the four- day consultation constitutes a series of five Regional Conferences which have been conducted in the Americas, Asia, Europe, Central Asia and the Middle East. These consultations served to bring together international key players of the project and provide networking opportunities, strengthen collaboration and information exchange among funding partners, implementing partners and other various project stakeholders.
Positioning of CSOs as growing actors in the development process, complementing government efforts, was hailed as a positive effect of the project. Participatory approaches and coordination among governing bodies, unions and community leaders were also commended as successful methods of implementation for the project.
DPN, together other local CSOs namely the Zimbabwe HIV/AIDS Activists Union Community Trust, Together As One and Zimbabwe Community Development Association, are part of the 43 CSOs currently implementing the project worldwide.
